Thoriated Tungsten Electrode
The compregensive perfomance of thoriated tungsten is very good. The electron emission is strong and the electron work function is 2.7eV. What is move, with high current load ability, stable arc, thoriated tungsten electrode can bear long-time welding. These tungsten electrodes are very popular in USA and other countries. The only disadvantage of this electrode is slight radloactive pollution. It is often been used for D.C. welding of carbon steel. Stainless steel, nickel alloy and titanium alloy.

Pure tungsten Electrode: Pure tungsten electrode has veuy high melting point and boilig point, the evaporation and buming loss is less than other tungsten electrodes. But electron emission of pure tungsten electrodes is not as good as others and so it is not good for keeping arc stable. Besides, the current beaning capability and antipollution capability is low. Pure tungsten electrodes suit for magnesium,aluminum and alloy.

Yttriated Tungsten Electrode
Yttriated tungsten electrode is mainty applied in military and aviation industry at present time. Its arc beam is slim and compressive, especially under medium and high current situation, it's welding penetration is maximum.
